I’m a writer and journalist in Chicago.
I write about culture, urban development, architecture, politics, social justice, and books. My work has appeared in CityLab, Literary Hub, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Reader, Block Club Chicago, Chicago Review of Books, Belt Magazine, South Side Weekly, Electric Literature, etc.
By day, I work as a staff writer at Reviews.com, where I write about finance and insurance. I'm also a contributing culture critic at Chicago Magazine and a fiction editor at Arcturus, an online lit magazine that publishes new perspectives in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.
I was born in China and raised in Orlando, Florida. After graduating from the University of Central Florida in 2016, I moved to Chicago, Illinois, where I currently live with my cat.
Here are a few stories I’ve written recently…
On the life and death of Midwestern indie press, Curbside Splendor (Literary Hub)
On the history of zoo design and what it reveals about human-animal relationships (CityLab)
On Frank Lloyd Wright’s affordable housing aspirations (South Side Weekly)
On Chicago’s little-known Luxembourger history (Chicago Reader)
On writing transracial adoption into literature (Electric Literature)
